Waterway Rumble

WaterwayRumble

Eight riders. One slide. No brakes.

A comic-book 3D water-slide racer. You and seven rivals drop into the same flume with your elbows out — carve the walls for speed, launch the gaps, glide the shortcuts and splash into the pool first. 37 hand-built slides, from a sunny beach park to Paris, Egypt, a midnight run through Tokyo, and a few places that probably shouldn't exist.

The Waterway Rumble app icon: a red-and-white rubber ring dropping into a bright blue water slide. Gameplay: a rider on a rubber ring races down a blue water slide with speed lines streaking past, the heads-up display showing 1st of 8.

What you're getting

One player, no internet required, no sign-in, nothing collected. Just the slide.

Race eight wide

Every race is you plus seven rivals in the same flume, and contact is very much part of it. Barge someone off the edge and you get paid a bonus for it — then try to keep your own line while they return the favour.

37 slides, all hand-built

Boost strips, sticky water, half-pipe walls, real breaks in the slide you have to jump, corkscrews and honest vertical loops. Twenty-five make up the World Tour — Antarctica, the Arctic, Paris, Egypt, Tokyo at midnight, jungle, volcano — and each one is shaped and named by hand, not generated.

Speed you earn

Carve up the wall and pump on the way back down, or compress through the bottom of a dip, and you come out faster — the same trick that works in a skate bowl. Timing does the work, so mashing the button never beats reading the slide.

Star times and ghosts

Every slide has authored target times worth one, two or three stars, judged purely on the clock. Your fastest run is recorded and rides beside you as a ghost next time, and the game keeps your top speed, longest jump and biggest air per level.

A shop full of nonsense

Coins from racing buy characters, hats, wakes, paint jobs and things to ride — tubes, boards and a flamingo — where each ride trades one strength for another rather than simply being better. Two are earned only by medalling, never sold. First tap on a card previews it on your character; the second tap buys.

Plays on anything you own

Phone, tablet and Fire TV. Touch, mouse, keyboard, gamepad or the TV remote all work, and the graphics setting runs from Auto to Ultra so a big screen and an old handset each get something sensible.

Screens

Real captures, no touch-ups.

Eight on the line. The countdown is the last calm moment.
A rider on a red ring drops down a steep golden water slide flanked by dark banked walls.
The Gilded Twister: solid gold, three loops and a corkscrew that rolls you upside down sideways.
A rider hits a glowing cyan boost strip on a deep blue slide that twists up and over itself against a night sky.
Teddy's Blue Streak: five loop-the-loops back to back, boost-fed the whole way.
Looking down the last straight of a water slide towards a chequered finish banner and the round splash pool beyond it.
Cross the end of the shell, dive for the pool. First splash wins.
The in-game shop: a cartoon character sits on a rubber ring above rows of cosmetic cards for characters, hats, wakes, vessels and paint.
Spend the coins: characters, hats, wakes, rides and paint.
A rider slides along a glowing rainbow-coloured track that stretches away under a black, star-filled sky.
Some slides aren't on the map. Keep your eyes open.
